everybody knows the world famous
musician but some guys seem to know
only his lastest album which is not
really great, so i decided to write a
little thing about his life!

jean^michel jarre was born on a sunny
day of august 1948 in a family of
musicians (his father is well known for
having composed many movie^musics).

at the age of five, he started learning
the piano. when he was a teenager, he
went to the concervatory and learnt
harmony and other things like that.

in the sixties, he was influenced by
english musics, so he played the elec^
tric guitar in many lame bands.

in 1968 in entered in the "musical
research group" and that's where he
discovered that music could be done
with every sounds and not only with
usual instruments!

step by step, he created his own
recording studio, and in 1969 he
composed his first record called
"the cage" which was an experimental
record.

in 1971 he composed the music for an
opera called C"aor".A

in 1972 he released his first album
calledC"deserted palace"Aand made some
tunes for movies, advertisings and so
on...

he released is first real album calledC
"oxygene"Ain 1976 and became number one
in all charts over the world!
this success was mainly due to the fact
that he was the first to use such
electronic sounds, but the tunes were
really great too!

in 1978, he released his second album
calledC"equinoxe"Aand again it was a
very big success!

he gave his first concert in 1979 and
once again it was a success : a million
of people were there and one hundred
millions in front of their tv sets!

"magnetic fields"Awas released in 1981
and its style was a bit different from
the first albums, but still only sounds
from synthesizers.

he made his second concert in china
(1981) and releasedC"concerts in china"A
in 1982. for the first time he used
"real" instruments too.

in 1983, he made an album calledC"music
for super^market"A, but there's only one
exemplary of it!

1984 was the year ofC"zoolook"A.this one
was very different from all the others
due to a very weird use of the sampled
sounds! (for those who know a bit about
synthesizers, this album was mainly
done with a fairlight mk 2) it's in my
opinion jarre's best album! really
great sounds and melodies!!!

in 1986, jarre made the alumC"rendez^
vous"Aand at the same time his first
"mega concert" in houston (usa) and
lyon (france)! it was the first concert
of this style! an all town lit with
lasers and other things like that!

in 1988, another album (C"revolutions"A)
and another mega concert (in london's
docks). in this album, jarre used very
different sounds, like for example
voice synthesis and an old turkish
flute! the result was a great mix of
countries and ages.

he released his latest album called
"Cwaiting for cousteauA"a few months ago
(1990) and he tryed again to make it
different from the others, but the
result was very poor! i really hope his
next album will be a lot better than
this one!
