BEFthe history of driesDAF my name is falcon of Ctdc/royal amiga forceA i am very bored right now so i thought, why not write something for our magazine.... this will be a story that many people will probably recognise. a story about some guy who was interested in computers and entered something we call a 'scene'. my first encouter with computers was when my father bought me a thing called 'philips videopac' it was one of those 'insert cartridge and play game' thingies.... you know , 4k memory , pixels about the size of a disk and sound wich was hardly a match to a calculator etc. but nevertheless, i enjoyed it for a while but soon i wondered, is that all there is to it , so i began searching for a computer that was more flexibel , and that was about the time a lot of my schoolfriends owned a c64 .. and some day i was at a friends place and played cobra .... i was in heaven , i was just sitting there and brabbling about , 'look at those gfx !!! dig that sound' so , the next few weeks i drove my dad absolutely insane and was begging for one of those state of the art compies..... and yes , finally , at my 15th birthday i got one.. complete with diskdrive ,printer, and a lotta disks (all second hand ya know). god knows how long i spend my time playing games ... but then again that feeling came , is that all??? i became fascinated by those intro's which were installed to the game , names like eca, hotline etc etc.. i read those scrollies and i wondered what it was that made the word 'scene' so special .. a friend of mine introduced me to the world of lda , sta etc etc. and soon my first routine was ready , i can't exactly remember what routine it was , but is was probably some flickering rasterbars or something like that.... and so , me and my friend wanted to form a group , names like 'the last crackers, tnt, brothers' etc was used but we were just a bunch of lamers , you probably know what i mean... i started to contact some people and created some demo's and i got a little bit more into the scene but still i was nothing but a lamer. at that time , there were all kinda rumours about a supercomputer called 'amiga' and soon after the amiga 1000 was a fact..... when i first gazed into the shopwindow and saw those gfx i started drooling all over , but i didn't have the money and without ever being someone in the 64 scene i got my amiga on july 1989 ... again the first few weeks was just playing around, didn't have any contacts , but, again that inevitable feeling came over me .... and i contacted a few people , and yes , this time it was working,i got more and more contacts and made some packs , but i still was groupless ..the big bang came when i contacted a guy named vortex of a group named ravish... they were looking for swappers and vortex asked me to join them and so i joined them , i started making some gfx (the famous megademo 1 logo remember lars?) and i discovered that i was quite nice at drawing.... then barrax of doom asked us to join them and form the dutch division of doom.. we accepted and then there was the first party i went to , it was the poison (lame) party in landgraaf holland.... we expected something major , but it was just a bunch of 64 and 4 amiga's but, it was fun and that is what counts.. than there came the vision/aces/active party , and that was a bit bigger and more fun , we made a little competition demo and talked to lotsa people (especially com of brainstorm (cool dude, hope to see you at the vision mirage party) but , back to history class... anyway , we stayed there till the very end , and vortex and i discussed about wanting to be in a group wich had the hq in holland.. soon the name raf came up , and so the next few days vortex called remote control and the thing was soon settled...we were gonna form tdc of raf (yes, a subdivision) tdc stands for the demo crew , and that is because we are only interested in creating demo's, we made a little intro and an anouncement demo and now i've reached today, we are working on tdc/raf megademo ii .. and i still swap a little and paint a lot... so , phew , that was a long story and i wonder if there is anyone reading this article at this point ... well , i will end this text now except for this message: our megademo will be released at the vision/mirage party on 22^12^90 (note by dr.legal... hehe... it was not!) .. greetings from falcon of tdc/raf signed off 12^1^91 by dr.legal/raf
