JEReview: SINNLOS from ARISE  ǡ S I N N L O S from A R I S E ɢreviewed by BliTTeR ǠThe SEMI - that stands for Scoopex Energy Manitou party in Innsbruck - took place at Easter `93. Some well known persons visited this party and had fun, but there were also some guys who didn`t have any fun at all. Yes, ARISE and ABYSS. They think that this party was the worst thing, the scene has seen so far and that the Hurricane was nothing against this one. And that`s the reason for this intro. l They really pissed on the party and mentioned some negative aspects... First you get to know their blackboard on which a invisible hand is writing some strange chars. After some cleans of the blackboard and a really nice animation (the rat is pissing on the SEMI-logo) the main message writer starts complaining about the party and it`s visitors. Nothing special at all for a intro - just to show their thoughts about this party and to advertise the Sun `n` Fun Conference II. Although they say that they don`t want the intro to be a advertisement for their party, it is one - no doubt. Now I want to write something about their impressions of the SEMI. They say that there was no organising...right...only Mosquito/MTU did something, Scoopex just gave their good name for the party to make more people come and to complete the name!? (Would you remember a EMI?). Energy also didn`t do anything, they just cooperated due to friendship. And now imagine a one-man-organiser running and looking whether everything is going right... They also say that the organiser lost his motivation totally at Saturday afternoon...you are right, but ARISE & ABYSS made him give up! They tried to rule the party with loud muzak outta their Hifi & THEIR demos filling the screen! The promises were really not held but it was really funny with all the guys - or do we need always somebody who entertains us? Why aren`t they able to entertain themselves by chatting, drinking, etc.? Yes, the technical personal (?) was really not informed about the video-system and it was really confusing seeing that fat guy playing with the video in the morning of Sunday. To some points I really agree, like the fact that the videos, if there have been some, were just too lousy to be shown. The competition went really in a big chaos, no rankings were released...but if you have a look at the results: Scoopex won the intro compo with a great intro-remix from former routines, Case&Filippetto/Zenith won the Muzak-Compo and BliTTeR / DAMIAN (oh, that`s me!) the GFX-compo, but I have nothing received yet, because the damage IRATA/TRSI caused (a door, 2 chairs,...) and the modem- stealing of NIKE/DARKSTAR alias SILENT/EOC 1999 alias NIKE/DUAL CREW. Further they mention that the entrance fee was too high and that you could get as many votesheets as you wanted - I agree. Then they mention the fact that you could get the drinks for free in the late night when everything went into a chaos...that`s right...but THEY were the ones who stole the things... All in all I would say that this intro is just as it`s called: SINNLOS! It has no sense at all, ARISE only wants to blame Mosquito/Mtu for his work (nobody else did something) and advertise their party in summer. If they would like to do so, why couldn`t they have coded a AD-TRO / PARTY-TRO / SUN&FUN-TRO? That`s a new cool group from Great Britain, and they are (like me and Friendly) real anti-likers of TAKE THAT. So the song-title (for their main song on the EP called SHORTSHARPSHOCK) was easy to find. On a special Music-Contest they saw the teenager-girls screaming for TAKE THAT like hell... they hated it and so they put teenager and scream together. The result is a totally cool Song called SCREAMAGER. On the EP there are also 3 other songs which are also lovely, so if you hate TAKE THAT and like Independent or HardRock a bit you should at least listen to the song... It gets 9 Points outta 10!!! Director: Frank Marshall Book : Pier Paul Read Actors : Ethan Hawke,Vincent Spano, Josh Hamilton,Bruce Ramsey Story : This movie based on a real story,which happend at the 13.October 1972,as a rugby team was on the way from Uruguay to Chile with an areoplane...Well,then it happend,the plane crashed into mountains,but some passengers found the right way to the exit.Many died, and the others had to fight about their life. This were the first min- utes of this movie...But the lost ones had not so much to eat and so they grabbed some death team- pals and eat them. After 10 weeks two of them fi- nally had the power and courage to walk in one of the next villages.Finally they reached someone at 23th December 1972 to get a helping hand. Reaction :A good movie(story) with less cool effects...you really see,how to make a movie with a blue box. Consenting Adults ǠUSA 1992,99min. Director: Alan J.Pakula Actors : Kevin Kline,Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio,Kevin Spacey, Rebecca Miller,Forest Whitaker Story : Richard(Kline)and his wife Priscilla(Mastrantinio) had a good life with success,a big own house, a nice daugther.The thing, they don't have is roman- tic and this is,what the neighbours have more than enough.Eddy(Spacey) asked Richard,about swap the wifes and he said after a break:"YES"...The night, after Rickard bumbed Eddy's wife Kay(Miller), she was murdered in bed. But Richard wasn't the murder... who killed Kay? Her Husband,the little daughter from Richard and Priscilla,was it god him- self,or was is just the bitch-dog from the other street-side...how knows? So Richard have enough to do! Reaction :If you had seen "A fish called Wanda" and you en- joyed the movie,then also grab this one...K.K.rulez The Trial ǠGB 1992,118min. Director: David Jones Author : Franz Kafka Actors : Kyle MacLachlan,Sir Anthoney Hopkins,Jason Roberts,Jean Stapleton Story : Nothing,just two bitches are in trial with a man Reaction: I had never seen such a bad movie...The best actor is as ever Sir Anthony Hopkins! Director: Harold Ramis Actors : Bill Murray,Andie MacDo- Well,Chris Elliot Story : We write the year 1993, Punxsutawney/Pennsylvania, the weather-monopole of world.Phil(Murray)is a asshole,he is as cool as the ice in Alaska.He did a little bit time jumping, wanted to love Rita(MacDo- well) and all is over. Reaction: Bill Murray isn't such a good actor as in Ghost- busters,but Andie(known from Hudson Hawk)was the#1 Indecent Proposal ǠUSA 1993 Director: Adian Lyne Producer: Sherry Lansing Music : John Barry Actors : Robert Redford,Demi Moore, Woody Harrelson,Oliver Platt Story : David and Diana Murphy (Harrelson & Moore) have a real love-life.They met first at the high-school & married.Both are welknown persons in the town.Well, David lost his job,both grab their last US$5000 & drove to Las Vegas to make some fast money. Diana met John Gage(Red- ford),who is a multi-rich- man.Gage wants to pay 1.000.000US$ for one night with Diana. Reaction :A very funny movie with two great actors: Moore and Redford(Sneakers)... Get this one and you will watch it more than one time. Fixing the Shadow ǠUSA 1993,100min. Director: Larry Ferguson Script : Larry Ferguson Actors : Charlie Sheen,Michael Madsen,Linda Fiorentino, Rip Torn Story : Ex-Cop Dan Saxon(Sheen) had the task from the FBI to get some evidence to bring Blood(Madsen) and his bike-gang The Jackals in jail.But it is not easy for The Sid(Dan's new name) to find the right way. Reaction: Cool movie with the new maverick called C.Sheen. Well, that was all.So I hope you enjoyed the Video Reviews and will look forward to a new issue of THE JUNGLE with again some (maybe more) interesting reviews. end. JEAThe First AGA-Demo! THE FIRST AGA-DEMO ɠcalled PLANET GROOVE ɠby TEAM HOI ɠreviewed by BliTTeR ǠThis onefiled demo takes about 450 kb of diskspace and does even run from Workbench. It was performed by the up to now unknown group TEAM HOI. Due to the fact that this demo makes excessive use of the new AGA chipset, it`s no use trying to start this program on any other computer than a A1200 or A4000. The hole show runs in full hires with 256 colors, always you can enjoy the blue to dark color-cycle. First you are informed that the AGA chipsets has successfully been detected and just after that the first effect pops up. In the middle of the screen you can see a rather bad logo of TEAM HOI with some credits...A nice and very fast pixel effect pops up, which looks like a rocket cruising on your screen losing many pixels. Then you see a not too good picture, but the main thing is the very smooth color cycling of a logo. Just great! Remember the nice color blitting effect in the 40k intro from Lemon. for the Gathering `93? Such an effect is shown in hires with more colors. Cool! After that you get to know some plasmas, which look very good, because of the very smooth colors and the high resolution. The end part is certainly the best thing this demo has to present: Below you see a simple, but big scrolly - again with colorcycling - and above you can watch two pictures fading in realtime into each other while moving around. I wonder if this effect would have been possible on a A500 in this way. The muzak sounds a bit strange, which meets the fashion of latest demos and really suits the demo. To sum up the first AGA-demo, I would say that this is certainly no production to refer to but it`s really able to begin showing the capablility of the new AGA chipset. The every time present color cycles are very smooth and nice. Hard to image what will come up to our monitors, if guys like Laxity or Chaos will release their first AGA-only demo. JEBMemorial Songs - Reviewown Out From A Shop Memorial Songs by Alcatraz by Friendly/Damian I am a big fan of Lizardking and so I really was looking forward to listen to this musicdisk. The typical Lizardking-synth-music on this musicdisk was worth waiting for. This musicdisk does not impress with a good design (which seems to be very important nowadays), but with the very good music. Tunes like the 'Lizardking Theme' or 'Varanen' are songs you surely will remember! They have a fascinating melody and the synth samples fit the type of the music perfectly. A lot of other tunes are also very good, but they don't have that remarkable melody. I have to admire Lizardking for his original idea with the tango, a music-type which was never done before on Amiga. Another special tune is the introsong. A robotervoice (Lizardking himself) sings to a nice melody. You can also find a jazz-tune on the disk. Except the last one I could listen to every song for hours! As I said before, the design is nothing special, just an Alcatraz-logo and a drawn menu. Underneath it a little scroller tries to get your attention (Wow, you can also choose DIFFERENT scrollers!). The creditspart is a little slideshow with the names of the producers and the endpart is just a short text together with a picture. If you load this musicdisk: Turn your amplifier on, switch off your monitor and LISTEN... Music: 9.5/10 Grafics: 5/10 Coding: 5/10 Design: 4/10 Impression: 8/10 Τend.
