JEEditorial ʡϤ EDITORIAL As a matter of fact we wanted to release THE JUNGLE every 1 - 1 1/2 month, but we didn`t succeed in this point. The reasons for this delay were the heavy code improvements, which now should come up to your expectations of a high quality mag. If you have at least 1 MB of total RAM, you are able to enjoy our new Ramload-system, which has the big advantage that you never have to wait during reading the mag. Additionally we have kept the compatibility with 512 KB only systems. With a faster processor than the 68000 you are additionally in the position to profit of even more speed. The changes didn`t stop at the code, we have also switched some internal positons: J. Walker has given the job as the main editor over to Blitter and will now continue working as the manager. As you certainly have noticed, we changed the GFX totally to fit the image of THE JUNGLE and improved the keyboard handling. At this point a big thank you must go to Tip/Mantronix / PHA for their really marvelous tune! Although it`s from 1990 it has never been released, but only took part in a competition. This time we are also in the position to present you our little chart section called EUROPEAN TOP 18, which was missing in issue #2 due to a nasty fault. In the Editorial of RAW Lord Helmet states, that they will only publish scene related articles in the future. He also said that all other mags only publish other articles just to gain more articles and that they accept everything for the mag, just to fill empty space. I think that this point certainly meets some mags, but we - THE JUNGLE - really try to offer you a big range of different topics, which you can enjoy. Why shouldn`t we include articles about non-scene related things, if they are really funny or interesting to read? You should really difference between no-scene related and non-scene related. If it`s just stupid junk, I really agree, but I think you throw all others in one bowl. At this point I want to express that we really try to make the mag as interesting as possible. For this reason we didn`t include some articles, because they really didn`t fit into a scene mag. But I want to express that this is no censoring, it`s just a selection. You can be sure that censoring is really none. Now it only remains to wish you a good time while reading issue #3. Yours, BliTTeR, Main Editor. end. JEAddressU ̤ C o n t a c t ! JEHow To Write For The Jungle How To Write For The Jungle You may have noticed, that we are always looking for all kinds of interesting articles for our magazine. You can write about every topic you like, but please read the following text and do what it says. * Send us your articles as an ASCII-file on a normal 3,5" Amiga-DOS-Disk. It would be too much work for us to type in all the articles ourselfs. You can use every ASCII-Editor (e.g. Cygnus Ed) or any Editor you like, but please make sure that your article is not in a special format (no control-sequences etc.). * Write your articles in English. English is the only language that will be accepted. Don't be afraid to send articles just because your english is not perfect. * Please insert a space after characters like '.,:;!?'. This is for formating reasons. Your text will look much better. * Don't use only uppercase letters. * Don't format the text with 36 chars per line or something like that. That's senseless and may only effect that we will not publish it because it would be too much work to reformat it. So don't care about this and write your text in a normal 80 chars per line format (you can also use 100 chars/line, or 78, 102, 105 293, 136,.... but don't try to let it look like the articles in the mag). * Send your articles to: The Jungle P.O.Box 740 A-6852 Dornbirn 3 Austria JEOfficial Spreaders List ţOfficial Spreaders Here are the adresses and BBSs where you can get The Jungle really fast: KR`33/LEMON. Why don`t you work as an official spreader of THE JUNGLE?! We need some talented guys that spread our mag all over the world. The 'Up'-icon to get to the previous article. The 'Down'-icon to get to the next article. The 'Music on/off'-icon to turn the music on or off. The 'PRINT'-icon to print the text. ͤNOTE: There is a little bug in the print routine. If your printer does not print the text although you have clicked the 'PRINT'-icon and your printer is all right (ON-LINE, paper, etc.) just try to put it OFF-LINE and then ON-LINE again! You can stop printing by pressing the right mouse button. If you have any idea how the bug could be fixed get in touch with me! The whole mag can also be controlled using the keyboard! In the INDEX use the coursorkeys to scroll the menu up and down. To select an article type in the number of the articles then press return or enter. On the TEXTSCREEN you can use the 'I'-key or `DEL`-key to get to the index/nemu, the 'M'-key to turn music on/off, and the 'P'-key to print the article (to stop you still have to use the mouse). Coursor up/down to get to the previous/next article. Coursor left/right to get to the previous/next page. This article is allways available by pressing the 'HELP'-key. JE Please answer here in THE JUNGLE!o ã Please answer here in THE JUNGLE! ƠIf you have got the first issue of THE JUNGLE then you sure know the article "CHURCH - THE BIGGEST LIE IN LIFE?" written by Ace/DMN. This article really made some people think things over and motivated some to write an answer concerning this provocative article. But they didn`t sent it straight to us in order to publish it and to show other readers their opinion in this matter - no! They sent their article to another mag which has nothing in common with this article! There it was published (like in Magbox #5!). Hey Spexx/Extacy, don`t you think it`s better to let the readers of THE JUNGLE know how your opinion looks like in this matter? If somebody has read the main article here and waits for an anwer in issue #2 and doesn`t find anything it`s really bad! If he receives the other mag in which some statements concerning this article are published and can remember the source article, he probably wants to act and send another answer. But to whom should he send his articles now? Should he send it straight to us where the source article was released or to the other mag in which the answer was in? A big problem for those readers, who want to follow the opinions and meanings of some scene dudes concerning a special matter. Therefore: If you have any answers, reactions or suggestions, please send them to US in order to follow the line! It doesn`t help you if you send it to an other mag! This may sound a bit article-hashing, but it`s really important to do so! Thanks in the name of other readers! end. JE The New JUNGLEeally shit? ϤƠ The New JUNGLE ɠby Friendly & BliTTeR / Damian ǠAfter the first two issues of the Jungle we got, of course, many reactions from you. A lot of people liked our mag itself, but there were even more who disliked the design. The Index was hated by several people and the mainmag seemed to be boring too. Because we like to work on this mag, we decided to change a bit. As you might have noticed the index is now very different from the first version, but we kept the idea of the up-down-scroll. The logo was critizised, so I drew another one. The mainmag contains new grafics too (Does it remind you on a logo by.....). Grafically the mag should look better now. A friend of mine asked me why we always write short articles. Of course we don't want to do so, but if everything is said in a few lines that's o.k. Anyway we are now trying to write a bit more about the topics. About the music in this issue, we just can thank Tip&Mantronix for sending us this wonderful tune! What we learned out of your reactions: Though it is said that the design of a diskmag does not count, it seems like a lot of people have more reading-pleasure when they like the design of the mag. We try to please you! But not only the design and music has been changed, also the code has been improved a lot. You are able to enjoy the new Ram-loading-system, which doesn`t give you any delays while reading the mag. Due to the fact that the index is now running in 16 color Hires, it will look on a normal A500 a little bit slow, but I guess more and more of you are going to buy a new AGA-computer and so youcan profit of more speed. The keyboard handling has also been improved to fit your needs. Also a packer has been included to squeeze all data on one disk.Beside this we also fixed some little but nasty bugs, which make life really...Enjoy! No motivation...?! We normally could have released this issue 2 weeks or even one month earlier, and why we delayed must be written in this article. Did you ever have the feeling of no fun when you turned on the Amiga when you wanted to work for something? I bet you had. That`s the same with us. I can`t talk for BliTTeR and J.Walker, but Friendly and me had no motivation the last time. When we wanted to write an article we only thought "Hmmmm, I`ll do it somewhen else!" Articles shoudn`t be a thing that have to be done, they should bring fun. Whole the days of our delay we had nice weather, so we spent most of the days outside. Normally this issue would be even more later, but the motivation came back when Tip of Phenomena sent me an up to now not released tune of 1990 from them, for this issue, which you will be able to hear right now. Many thanks, Robert! And once again we had some motivation when we saw, that even after the second issue people liked our mag and voted for us. Well, Duke called me yesterday and told me that we are in the charts of the AUSCHWITZ-Pack by BRONX. Ok, we`re only on place nr.10 and this is not the EUROCHART, but for us it was a first little success, to see that people like our mag and even vote for it. Many thanks to all who voted for us. I hope you all like the new design of the Index, I think it`s much better than the last one. Ok, now it`s time for me to stop, because no I wanna put these articles on a BBS, so that BliTTeR can download it to send it to J.Walker, who puts it in. Nice Info, Hmmm? Τend.
