TAKEOVER ¾The BIG takeover ¼---------------- ¢By²: ¾Magic / Nah-kolor ¹Many people complain that the scene, our scene, is dying. Well, this isn't completely true! Ofcourse the scene is getting smaller. Reasons which got heavenly discussed were for example the infiltration of the AGA machines, or the age of people nowdays.. Scener's are getting to old to be involved in the scene as much as they did in `The Old Days' ... However, I think there is another philosophy! When you are a scener, you have some close friends, which in time will vanish for good. This time period can reach from 1-5 years, maybe 6 years, but at the end you will not hear from him/her again. You don't have much interest in new contacts, because you don't feel like contacting any new ones... For example when you have about 10 people left, which you keep in contact with, and after a time this contact has also fade away slowly, you think the scene isn't interesting anymore, your contact with the scene will be at a minimum, and so you think the scene suxx, and is dying! Ofcourse things change, the scene is just one of many things that change in time. I also knew the scene, when Anarchy,Melon Design,Silents,Rebels, Complex,Silents,Alliance Design and some more, released demos and were on top! And ofcourse I dont mean the Rebels,Complex and Silents of today! This time period was from 1991 untill the beginning of 1993.. Slowely group after group, the scene changed, and now in 1995, groups like Stellar,Bomb,Virtual Dreams,Pygmy Projects,Polka Brothers are on top, also Andromeda and Sanity came along fine in 1994 but these look like a dead end today, since many of them work for software houses, and Chaos left Sanity to be independant !! Also in the Diskmagazine scene things changed.. 1994, Raw was asleep, Top Secret got burried alive, and Compass was in big problems.. In general a major explosion followed at the end of 1993 and in 1994. A lot of diskmagazines got born in that time! Too bad that most of them disappeared the same way they came! ;( Headline, Thing, Buzz, 42, Outlaw, all were born in that time amongst others.. Not that strange, because the most talented writers in the scene, were without there most important magazines to spread their articles in, and the market got wide open, after (what in that time) looked like a very big delay of RAW and Top Secret. Upstream got the most talented writers like Mop and Macno... September 1994, again a new magazine saw the light.. Ofcourse I am talking about ROM.. I think the editor of Rom realized that without RAW in the scene, and some more fresh ideas, you could easely make a new No1 magazine. Too bad that RAW got released again in the beginning of 1995. Another trend that is to be seen among diskmags is that alot of diskmags got an new editor. Astro took the RAW from Lord Helmet, Mount took the Upstream from Sesium together with Wolfman, Magic (Hey that's me ;) took over the Chit Chat from Retep&Tomcat, The Ripper more or less runs The Charts, even Grapevine and D.I.S.C. got new editors. Just like group names got `Recycled' like Rebels or Razor 1911, the names of magazines (Together with the code) got recycled to. Just take a existing magazine, from which the editors are about to quit, and use that magazine for your fame.. If you are lucky you get the original supporters from the magazine with it !! This is the easy way when you are an article writer, and you want to be editor. It's really a challenge when you start a diskmagazine project all from the start, just like when you start a new group. You first have to make a name for yourself, instead of keeping one.. Think about this, because this is also why the scene is getting smaller, no new groups, and no new diskmagazines.. Make my day, and relive the old days by doeing something in which people can say, YES, I really respect that scener, he really did something for the scene, our scene! Something which not many people can say.. Taking over a Group or Diskmagazine is just the easy way out.. ’
