Q) Dave Diamond is quite a flamboyant character in your articles,what was your youth like and does it reflect this? A) My youth was an abnormal one compared to others. I had the love of my parents and all the material things etc but the main problem I had during my youth was having no friends. I can only say that in 15 years of being in school I only had 4 friends who have all gone their seperate ways through-out the years. So as you can see I`m the complete opposite of my famous character. Q) Four friends? What happened? A) I dont know,I guess that some people have `it` and some dont and I was one of the unlucky ones. I think that it was due to the fact that I was different and I dont mean deformed or anything I was incredibly shy and I still am today,those who accept my shyness and still become my friends know what a nice person I am but the majority make up their own mind up as to what you`re like. Q) Why do you think you`re shy? A) I can`t say for sure but I probably think it`s due to the severe bullying I have had to deal with over the years. Q) When were you first bullied? A) When I was about 5 I think but I can`t remember. Q) If it`s not too painfull,how long have you been bullied? A) No it`s not too painfull,I`ve been bullied for around 12 years. Q) 12 years is a hell of a long time,didn`t you report what was going on? A) Yes there was only one teacher that helped but the rest just completely ignored me. Q) Why did the others bully you? A) It seemed as if from the moment I was born I had a target painted on my fore-head as I`ve been slammed for eveything,I wore glasses (still do) was teased because of my un-manly penis in the locker rooms,teased because I was fat,because I had b.o because I couldn`t afford school trousers because of my large size...the list just goes on and on. Q) That must have been a very painfull period of your life. A) Yes it was and the only way I could deal with it was isolation because I feared that everytime I ventured outside someone would say something and whenever I did go outside it happened. Q) What was the most awfull experience of bullying you have recieved? A) There are two that stick in my mind,the first was when I was around 13 travelling to primary school on my own,it was the first day and when I was walking through town to reach school these 3 teenagers passed me shouted `fatso` and spat in my face in clear sight of all the shoppers. The other time was when the bully who saw my small member in the locker room blabbed to a group of 5 girls in class one day - one of which I liked. Q) That`s terrible,no wonder you went into isolation. How did you cope at this stage? A) I just made fun of the penis bit but then the bullies only made things worse by spreading a lie that I couldn`t father children. Also a different bully painted on trash cans that I have AIDS which of course was rubbish. Q) It seems that you were the main victim in the entire school,were you glad when you left? A) Yes I was relieved but it still remains with me today. Q) Couldn`t you have hung around with your friends at the time to escape the bullies? A) I did for a while but they started getting bullied because I was with friends who could possibly help. Q) What do you wish for those bullies now? A) I wish for them to fail in life and have a magnitute of misery that they have put me through. Q) Do you have any friends now? A) No,I like to think that the people reading this are my friends. Q) They are. A) I`m glad,I haven`t experience a true friendship for some years now. Q) That was quite a revealing and personal account,why did you feel it was necessary to tell this tale? A) I would want the fans of my writing to know that behind all the fun and glamour of my articles there is a sad and lonely side of Dave Diamond that many wouldn`t want to hear about but I feel it is necessary because it adds the `one to one` element to my readers so they know I have nothing to hide from them,I wouldn`t want to be a celebrity that ignores the fans and doesn`t want any part of their being. If I was so sucessfull as to be a celebrity the fans of my work would keep me in the business and why should I denie them things that they want to know? Q) By mentioning that you have a small penis dont you think that this leads to your readers and any ladies reading that you have shot yourself in the foot? A) No,by mentioning that I have been the most open that I can be. Also there is no point in saying that I have a massive member only to be critisised by the lover when we make love - it`s telling a lie that wont get me anywhere. I tell the truth and everything works to the best of my knowlege and my philosophy is that all you need to make a woman happy in the loving department is tender loving care and alot of imagination and passion - I have all of those qualities and all I need to do now is to out my theory into practise. Q) Moving along to items brighter what are your fondest memories? A) Meeting girls!! Q) What sort of adventures did you have? A) Nothing sexual but they were fun times and times I behold. Q) What are your memories of talking to girls? A) The most memorable is the `Michelle` incident which has been well documented,I also remember asking girls in clubs if they wanted a drink etc although I didn`t get anywhere it was a fun experience. Q) Have you ever asked a girl out? A) Yes! Just recently in fact! I thought it was about time I got over the Melissa Hart experience so I asked this girl out from my make-up course. Q) Did she accept? A) No she said she was washing her hair which I didn`t believe for a second seeming as she was bald. Q) You make light of depressing situations,why couldn`t you have done this with the Michelle/Melissa saga? A) Those are too depressing to make light of as they were firmly embedded into my soul. Q) If you actually met Melissa would you ask her out and if so do you think she would accept? A) She wouldn`t accept at the moment as she`s seeing someone (lucky dude) but I would ask her out if she was single - I`d be very nervous though. I would hope that she would accept as she (seems) to be un-judgemental of appearance,I would like to think that I`m quite an interesting person to know - why I`m writing this aren`t I?! Melissa seems to be the type of person who would want an honest relationship and you can`t have anything more honest than this article! Q) What would happen if she said no? A) I would of course be gutted but I`d hope we could become mega good friends,I`d help her out in any way I could. Even though it would be quite heart breaking to be a friend seeing her go out with some other guy but at least I would be able to ask her and see that nothing bad happens to her. Q) You seem to have it pretty bad! A) Yeah,let`s hope we all prosper in love and life eh? Q) If Melissa turned out to be a nasty person what would you feel? A) I would be in the utmost state of depression and I`d feel close to suicide. I do believe she`s a genuinely nice person though - let`s hope I find out soon! Q) You`re poem `Tears Of Love` published in the poerty book `Poetry Now - Wales 1997` was very profound. What was the reason behind this poem? A) Again this was to do with Melissa Hart to whom it is dedicated. It was written because of the effect she had on me. Even though the text reads quite strange and seems like it belongs in a fantasy novel the poem which was thought up and written in 10 minutes tells the tale of my true love for Melissa and how I struggle to express my undying love to her. Q) Have you wrote anymore poems? A) Yes for my group The Invaders I made a demo called Tears Of Love: The Poems,which featured all my poems from 1996 like the Jester Of Sorrow and The Wall. More recently I have written some more,all of which are in a similar vein. Q) I take it you like poetry then? A) Actually I`m not that much of a fan,poetry (to me) is a form of expression which has a deep symbolic reference to the writer and therefore it`s quite hard to decipher the poem if you aren`t in the same frame of mind. Q) You have lots of talent for writing and imagination,have you any other talents we dont know about? A) Thanks! Many people say that I`m a good writer,and in school the teachers always noted in my reports that I had a very vivid imagination. I can act,sing (to a certain degree),shock,make people laugh with jokes,do impressions and also make people feel quite emotional. Q) Having bags of talent in numerous fields did you ever feel of ending the rein of Dave Diamond? A) Yes I`ve often contemplated killing him off. Q) You said that you would consider suicide? A) Yeah I have often thought about ending Dave Diamonds life so that the legend can be put to rest. Q) Why? A) The problem is that I only intended writing a few articles under that name and then jacking it in. They have become so popular I find it hard to let go so I said to myself "I`ll do 300 articles and call it quits unless I get some response from readers who want me to talk about a certain subject" and that total is growing every day so unless I get some feedback the Amiga version of Dave Diamond goes! Q) That`s a bit drastic isn`t it? A) No not really,it`s not worth writing for people who dont want to see your articles. Q) Fair comment A) I guess it`s the only way to generate any interest from my readers. Q) Have you made any articles about Dave`s demise? A) Yes I`ve already wrote the `final` article,whether or not it will see the light of day relies upon my readers. Q) Do you think that because you have had no luck with the ladies and that you have an overwhelming presence combined with talent you are in fact different from anyone else? A) Yes I feel that I`m special and that I was born to entertain everyone no matter what crede,religion or culture. Q) We are now drawing to the end of this interview,what dream do you have when it comes to your readers? A) I hope that one day they will say to their-self "I wonder what Dave Diamond is doing now? He wrote some great articles." And then they proceed to re-read them again and again. It`s a symbol to show that I have reached someone. Q) What do you feel you have acomplished in both this article and your time writing articles for the readers of the world? A) I feel that I have entertained the readers and brought them good times when they have felt down,I hope I have educated,moved and given my readers a well written journey through a life of a friend. As for this article I hope that I have made the readers understand that there are always two sides to every person and that I have silenced the perhaps many who have chuckled through these interview text files when it comes to reading about a open hearted writers lifestyle. Q) What do you predict for the future of this article? A) I think it will be read by thousands of people who want an insight into my life and perhaps maybe one day will even end up on a `This Is Your Life` programme so if that does happen and they dig out this article on screen to show the viewers and my aged self here`s a messege to myself in the future!
