$9f0|1-Remembering Wookie $fbd kenco carnage $bff Carnage has become slightly famous for its gatherings. For its members, anyway. I remember one of the first gatherings we ever had at Kei's house. Me and Koony took our computers around and we basically vegged out. Carnage was in its infancy then, me and Koony had only been in the group a short while. Kei was in charge of recruitment and he often got jiffies or letters asking for a place in the group. I remember Kei playing me a mod (I forget which) of Wookie's; I remember me thinking it was the best mod I had heard for a long time. Kei asked "Shall we let him in the group, then?" So Wookie was then our resident music-meister. He'd already made a load of mods previous to joining Carnage and although not many of them have been used yet, they will find their way into future projects. The first time I met Wookie was when me and Koony were living at 30 Lothian Road, Middlesbrough. This was one of the bigger gatherings, with more than half of the Carnage crew turning up. Aside from Wookie, there was me, Kei, Amida, Kooky, Fireball, Cage and a few other people turned up as well. I would rate it on a par with some of the gatherings we've had. It was the first time I'd seen a Playstation, which Wookie thoughtfully bought along with him, along with a huge old TV. I just wish I'd stayed more at that gathering, I'd have got to know more about Wookie - I know I had a good root round his hard drive and he had a good root round mine and I can put a face to the name, but.. I probably missed out on some good times. The reason why I went out was one visitor thought it was funny to piss me off, and I'd had enough, so I went out. I think it was Species at the Showcase I went to see. Sigh, ah well. I wish Wookie'd managed to get to some of the other gatherings, I reckon some good times would've been even better with Wookie there as well. I guess he was too busy though, earning his 1st class degree. Not that it was his fault, I mean, if you want to get a 1st class degree, you've got to work bloody hard, so he must've had a very intense schedule to keep. Sigh. Just a pity I didn't get to know him better. Whenever I listen to any of Wookie's music now, I get goosebumps. When I first learnt that Wookie had left, I went out for a walk and thought what sort of influence was he on me? A pretty big one. Some of his music is the best I've ever heard. What sort of influence was I on him? I can't really say, I guess everyone he met influenced him in some way towards his music. Ah buggrit, I'm just waffling on now. My best regards to Wookie's family. Rest in peace, Ben. Many people believe in reincarnation. I think I do as well. The body you are given is a shell, which is handy for carting your soul around in. When you pass away, you leave your body in search of another one. I hope Wookie's soul reaches another body so he can be as big an influence as he was. -ende-
