@t2,05 @^@f05@t1@cPacks & Pack rippers @f00@taIn issue 9 Cybersonik raised the issue of pack ripping and spreading your demos. I agreed with most of what hesaid but I would like to give a few more ideas to the argument. If a group codes a demo which is really good then they no doubt wil have some swappers in the group. Most of the coolest demos are done by a group of 6-8 groups maximum. Occasionally there will be a new group formed who will release a new demo but usually the name on the demo is the one of a small number, Silents, Anarchy, Andromeda, PMC the list goes on. Now all these groups have good swappers and good ones at that so all their demos are spread quickly and @^ fiercly. Now what if a demo is done by a group who do not have some good swappers. Firstly get the demo on one of the elite boards. Take issue 9 of Stolen Data, it was released on Thursday 3rd September and low and behold it was on all the major U.K boards that evening, wo within the next few days the mag is sent to each and every swapper in the land. Lamers who go to SYSOPS to buy warez will get it and they will swap it with the lame contacts as well, so within a week tops the mag is spread to every AMIGA owner in the land. The second way of spreading a product is, as Cyber said, at a party. These, though are few and @# @t2,05 @^@tafar between, only a handful of parties/symposiums in the U.K this year and if you leave your demo to gather dust for any more than a couple of weeks the effects quickly start to look dated and so when it is released it will a) stand a low chance of winning any prizes and b) it wont be spread as well becuase people have seen the effect before and will format within 5 minutes of looking at it. With each demo that is released I think the group releasing it should make it a procedure to send it to all the main swappers in the elite groups for swapping the day before the release day this way it is sureto be spread. This is probably the quickest way of getting your demo released. Now then demo packs and the ripping of them. There is a number of people who think demo packs should not exist, @^why ??? It is a real waste to put 6 disks in a parcel with only 1 demo on each disk, when the six could be put onto one pack. Taking demos from packs for your packs is lame. You should be a cool enough swapper to get the groups to send you their products direct, even maybe before the release date, for you to put on your packs. This is what makes a swapper stand head and shoulders above the millions of swappers in the scene. Too many times you have a few packs sent to you with demos A,B,C,D on one disk and 1,2,3,4 on the other. You can guarentee that the next time postie visits you will get some lame pack makers pack with 2,B,4,C on it. Now that is lame. However if you receive a pack with duplicate demos on (ones you have seen before) this is soon forgotten if there is an intro or something on the disk you have not seen before. @# @t2,05 @k016,050,24 @k400,050,25 @^@t3@f01 @cAnyway this is a argument which will @cgo on and on and on .. so over to the @cnext article. @f09@t1@cBOB @cof the @cSD Team @@
